Follicular Multiplication

Density of Hair Growth Compared to
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) & Strip Transplant

One of the major advantages of Follicular Multiplication (FM) is “Pili Multigemini”, a condition where two or more follicles develop from one transplanted follicle. This phenomenon of stem cells induced multiple hairs regrowth is quite common among patients who had FM procedures done at GHO Clinic. With "Pili Multigemini", patients can expect more hairs or density from a given number of transplanted grafts than traditional hair transplant procedures or FUE. "Pili Multigemini" can naturally give the patient more new hairs than expected and have a positive effect on overall density in the recipient site. However, it has been discovered that "Pili Multigemini" can sometimes occur along the hairline too where single hair follicles are transplanted and the resulting hairline may look more straight and/or dense than expected in some patients. Nowadays, the doctors at GHO Clinic have taken into consideration the effect of "Pili Multigemini" when designing the patient's hairline.

The above photo is another illustration of "Pili Multigemini". Note taht although only single hairs where placed into the hairline (blue arrows), more hairs are growing from the grafts (green arrow) as a result of "Pili Multigemini".
